Course details

With a practical and applied approach this course aims to introduce the principles of plant science that have a direct relevance to environmental studies and gardening in particular, giving the learner knowledge and understanding of plants and their responses to gardening practice.

It focuses on plant structure and function, giving an understanding and scientific basis of plant growth, development and gardening practices.

As an optional module towards the Certificate of Higher Education in Field Ecology it forms an excellent basis for progression on to more specific areas of scientific study, particularly the core modules of ecology, plant diversity and plant identification but is also an excellent ‘stand-alone’ course for members of the general public interested in botany or gardening. 5 credit introductory module at CQFW level 3.

Please note:- This course used to be called Botany for Gardening.
