Course details

The H004 is suitable for plumbing and heating installers who have already successfully completed the H003 course (time limited) and wish to extend their competence for the installation of stoves with boilers.

The course is important for the safe and effective installation of solid fuel wet appliances, and discusses advancements in technology, including integration with other types of wet heating.

Successful completion of the H004 course allows HETAS registrants to extend their scope of registration with HETAS on the competent persons registration scheme.

Course Content:

There will be theory training with a practical context on:

• Wet system design and specification
• Discussions on the advancements in technology
• The installation of solid fuel appliances with boilers incorporating vented systems
• The principles of gravity circulation
• System controls
• Integration with other types of wet heating systems
• Heating system commissioning handover
• Service and maintenance

Pre Requisites

• Compulsory: HETAS H003 Dry Appliance Installer Course

And at least one of the following:

• evidence of Gas Safe Registration - CCN1 and CEN1.
• evidence of OFTEC 101 or 102.
• evidence of formal plumbing and heating qualification i.e. City & Guilds 6129 and 6089, or QCF 6189; or other suitable award.
• evidence of equivalent work experience on wet heating systems.
• N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.

Things you need to know



Due to the nature of this course some practical work will be done outside. We strongly advise you to bring waterproof clothing and steel toe-cap boots are mandatory.

You must be over the age of 18 years when this course starts.

The balance of the course fee is due 28 days before the start of the course.

Our course fees include full board accommodation, tuition and materials, unless otherwise stated.

a) The £250 deposit and 1 day course fees are non-refundable.
b) For courses of 2 days or more when you give us this notice of cancellation:
• 28 days or more – refund minus your £250 deposit.
• 8 to 27 days notice – refund minus your £250 deposit for sales of £200 or under. On sales over £200 - 50% refund.
• 7 days notice or under – no refund.
c) CAT reserves the right to cancel any courses. Deposits and fees will be returned in full should this happen.
