Course details

Using traditional techniques make your own beautiful rustic frame basket, based on the Welsh Cyntell and Irish Sciathog.

Used mainly for agricultural purposes, especially potatoes, these baskets were made by the country folk themselves, using the local willow and few tools.

The course is for anyone with an interest in basket making and traditional crafts and skills.

The course is suitable for complete beginners and also those with some previous experience.

You will gain essential knowledge and skills needed to weave beautiful, functional frame baskets.

The tutor is Pippa Scott. Pippa is a member of the 'Basketmakers Association' and began willow basket-making in 1987 and gradually moved on to sculptures, and larger structures for gardens.
She also grows and harvests her own willow.
Pippa's endless enthusiasm for the subject is highly infectious, making her classes enjoyable for people of all ages and experience
